Womb Sofa takes the armchair Luigi Bistagnino designed in 1972 and stretches it to 170 cm. Bistagnino presented Womb to Gufram at Eurodomus 4, the fair devoted to the furniture and homes of the future, and it entered the catalogue in 1973. The idea came from a childhood memory: the unquilted duvet on his grandparents' bed, which puffed up every time he jumped on it.
A soft polyurethane body sits under a loose, gathered upholstery that wraps around those sitting on it, with no hard edges anywhere. Bistagnino put it plainly: "When you sit down, you don't want to get up." Womb is offered in leather, in Bistre, Sienna or Toffee, or in chenille, in Oil 035, Wine 036, Caramel 037, Olive 025, Chalk 015 or Aqua 028.
The upholstery is cut and sewn by hand, so each piece varies slightly. The same design is also available as the Womb Armchair, 85 cm wide.
